Maria Giovanna Danieli received her degree in Medicine and Surgery (summa cum laude) and PhD in Internal Medicine. She is Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Director of the Postgraduate School of Allergology and Clinical Immunology at the Clinical and Molecular Sciences Department of the Polytechnic University of Marche. She has extensive experience in immune-mediated diseases, in particular polymyositis, dermatomyositis, Sjogren’s syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus. She actively participates to Autoimmunity Network, directed by Prof Yehuda Shoenfeld. She is particularly involved in clinical research in therapeutic modalities, such as intravenous or subcutaneous immunoglobulin as novel applications in autoimmune diseases. Her group was the first to publish on a series of patients with autoimmune myopathies treated with subcutaneous immunoglobulin. She is a member of Myonet and iMyos, international collaboration research and treatment database and society for myositis. In the last ten years she devoted her attention to innate defects of immunity, in particular adult immunodeficiencies. She is active member and documenting Centre for ESID, European Society for Immunodeficiency. Professor Danieli also bestows her interest to promoting patient education and empowerment.
